After Jon Jones launch the idea of a super fight against Alex Poatán for the 'BMF' belt, the Brazilian wasted no time and accepted the challenge. In a photo on his Instagram stories, the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) posted a photo of Dana White with the title and tagged both parties involved in the post. The fight, if it takes place, would be one of the most anticipated in UFC history.
“Call me, my brother!” wrote Poatan on Instagram.

The idea of a fight between Jones and Poatan gained traction after the heavyweight champion commented on the matter before defending his title against Stipe Miocic No. UFC 309. 'Bones' revealed that he would be willing to give up the heavyweight belt to face the Brazilian for the BMF belt, which represents the 'toughest' fighter in the organization.
“It would be cool to fight for the heavyweight title, but I would also be happy to give up the belt. I gave up the light heavyweight title. I would love to give that one up, on my own terms, with a clear head and making a lot of money. I love where I am right now. Fighting Pereira for the BMF belt would be cool. We both have belts in two weight classes and we would fight each other for the third belt. How cool would that be?” Jones said in an interview with 'SportsNet'.
The acceptance of Alex Poatán to the challenge of Jon Jones puts one of the UFC's most coveted belts at stake. For the fight to happen, the organization will need to make some important decisions, such as creating a new BMF belt or stripping the old one Max Holloway, current title holder.
