With 27 wins and one debatable loss due to disqualification on his resume, Jon Jones is considered the greatest MMA fighter of all time. For UFC commentator Joe Rogan, the heavyweight champion's dominance (up to 120,2 kg) comes from his physical advantages over his opponents, including Stipe Miocic, who will face 'Bones' in the UFC 309, this Saturday (16).
In a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan analyzed Jones' physical characteristics and described how vulnerable other fighters become when facing the champion. For the commentator, 'Bones' body is ideal for the fight.

"Jon Jones “He has the perfect body for a fighter, because he’s still very strong, he’s got a lot of muscle, but he’s also long and lean. So he’s not relatively bulky for his weight, because he’s long and stretched out. If you have a distance like that, where a guy can hit you and you can’t hit him, you have to get through that distance, and you’re so vulnerable while you’re getting through that. And if the guy is a good counterpuncher, and he’s active and long, it’s very hard to get close to him. So a guy like Jon, that’s always going to be an advantage.” Rogan said.
In addition to these physical advantages, Jones also stands out for his technical skills, which make any attempt to get close risky. Rogan points out that even if an opponent manages to close the distance, he will face another set of challenges, both standing and on the ground, due to Jones' elite grappling and his powerful oblique kicks.
“With Jon, if you can really get to him, it’s no joke, because he’s an elite grappler. He’ll choke you out, he’ll throw you to the ground. Then, like, you’re in serious trouble. He’ll kick you in the knees. Jon was one of the worst at stomping on people’s knees,” the commentator concluded.
After winning the heavyweight title in March 2023, Jon Jones will make his first defense against Stipe Miocic in the main fight of UFC 309, this Saturday (16), at Madison Square Garden, in New York.
