The clock doesn't stop in the ring. At least that's what the history of boxing shows us. Next Friday (15), the legendary Mike Tyson, aged 58, defies logic and numbers when facing the young YouTuber Jake Paul, 27. The 31-year age difference between the two promises to be the biggest ever recorded in a professional boxing match.
But do years weigh more than experience? The history of boxing has recorded several disputes between generations, with surprising results in favor of the more experienced.

the fight between Mike Tyson e Jake Paul goes beyond a simple clash between generations. It is a duel between past and present, experience and daring. The 31-year age difference between the two athletes calls into question the 'traditional concepts' about performance and longevity in boxing.
Veterans vs. Youngsters in Boxing
The history of boxing, however, shows us that age is not a determining factor for success in the ring. Legends like Archie Moore and George Foreman have proven that it is possible to reach the peak of one's career at an advanced age.
Moore, at age 49, defeated Mike DiBiase by TKO in 1963, establishing, at the time, the largest age difference in a professional fight.
Foreman, at age 45, won the world heavyweight title by defeating Michael Moorer, at age 26, in 1994.
And believe me, this wasn't the only fight with a big age difference! In 2013, even more recently, James Toney, aged 46, defeated Kenny Lemos, aged 23. A 23-year age difference!
Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul
At 58 years of age, Mike Tyson is considered by many to be one of the greatest boxers of all time.
A world champion in the late 80s, 'Iron' has not fought professionally since 2005 and has not stepped into the ring since November 2020, when he returned from a 14-year hiatus to face fellow former world champion Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight that ended in a draw after eight rounds.
An internet phenomenon, Paul began his boxing career in 2020 and has won against names such as Anderson Silva, Nate diaz and Tyron Woodler.
