"The Ilia Topuria He is a very tough guy. He talks the talk and does the work and I like watching him fight. I think the lightweight division is tougher, so people should be careful when they talk about moving up a weight class. When they put on the belt, everyone wants to become a double champion. I don't know what he would be like at lightweight, but he is a dangerous guy,” he said.

Topuria's weight change would be similar to the Brazilian's own change. After spending years in the lower division, Charles changed his career by moving definitively to the current category in 2017, where he fulfilled his dream of becoming world champion.

Max Holloway

The UFC's most populous weight class, the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) could experience some very interesting moments in the coming months. In addition to Topuria, Max Holloway recently stated that he will make the full transition to the division and abandon the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg) for good.

Charles, who faced the Hawaiian in 2015 and was defeated after suffering an esophageal injury in the first round, saw the chance to have a rematch with the fighter for the BMF title.

“It would be great! I think I deserve it. All the big names I’ve fought, I’ve knocked out or submitted. I had an injury against him, so why not?” he concluded.
