The expectation was a knockout, but it didn't happen. Which doesn't mean he didn't try. Maurício Ruffy imposed a strong pace on his feet and came close to knocking out James Llontop. The Brazilian, however, saw the Peruvian resist the pressure and won by the judges' decision. The duel was held at catchweight (up to 74,8 kg).

With the victory, Ruffy achieved his second victory in the UFC. The São Paulo native now has a record of 11 wins and one loss in his career.
Llontop, in turn, had not made weight for the fight. The Peruvian has a record of 14 wins and four losses.

With a lot of study, Ruffy took his time to start working on his strikes. His dodging was up to date. When he started to land strikes, the Brazilian was superior at close range, with plastic strikes that were well absorbed by Llontop.
The second round was a good time for Maurício to let loose. And James went to the ground. With a cross, the Brazilian almost got the knockout, but saw the Peruvian recover. The feeling was that he wanted to use a plastic blow to impress.
Llontop was tired, but he decided on a different strategy. With pressure on him to take him down, he landed some good blows. The Peruvian imposed his game, but saw the Brazilian dodge.
