In the third fight of UFC Macau, Lone'er Kavanagh and José Ochoa exceeded expectations and fought a close fight until the last seconds. The Peruvian, who trains with Charles of the Bronx, even came close to finishing, but, in the duel of undefeated fighters valid for the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg), the Englishman had his arm raised in the judges' decision.
With the victory over the Peruvian, Kavanagh made his debut in the Ultimate on the right foot and achieved his eighth victory in his career. Ochoa, in turn, suffered his first setback.
Fight disputed until the last minutes
At the beginning of the fight, the athletes shared the center of the octagon with a lot of fast movement and low kicks, with the Chute Boxe representative showing good dodging. While Ochoa bet on movement and prolonged sequences, Kavanagh landed stronger single blows.

In the second round, the athletes still respected each other as they tried to establish a distance. Halfway through the round, the Englishman landed a sequence that made Ochoa wobble. In the final stretch, the Peruvian, who already had a cut on his right eyebrow, closed the distance and applied blows to the body that made his opponent double over. In the final seconds, the Englishman attempted a takedown, but Ochoa managed to defend himself, take his back and almost finished him before the bell rang.
At the beginning of the third round, the corners announced that the fight was tied, and the athletes went all out to settle the score. In the first minute, Kavanagh landed a straight punch that made Ochoa lose his balance. From the middle to the end of the round, the Englishman, confident that he was winning, began to simply control the fight, avoiding direct confrontation. Kavanagh's victory was confirmed by unanimous decision of the judges.
