Grain by grain, Carlos Ulberg is honing his way to reach the top of the Ultimate welterweight rankings (up to 93kg). victory over Volkan Oezdemir last Saturday (23), in UFC Macau, was the New Zealand fighter's seventh in a row in the organization and should project him even higher. Before entering the octagon in China, Ulberg was ranked 10th while his opponent occupied the 8th position.
Before the UFC Macau, Ulberg had already revealed be 'closer than ever' to your greater purpose in the organization: to challenge Alex Poatán for the welterweight belt. While he's not quite ready for a title shot yet, an emphatic win or two will certainly earn him the right to challenge the champion. And he already has a 'dance partner' lined up as his next opponent: Khalil rountree, the Brazilian's last 'victim'.

“Obviously Khalil had that opportunity last time, so I think the next step, my next step would be against a guy like Khalil rountree”, Ulberg told the I ufc.co in a post-fight interview.
Ulberg also said he would like to fight in UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia on February 8th next year (check out Ulberg's interview below). An ambitious goal, since Khalil rountree still recovering from damages suffered in the fight against Alex Poatán No. UFC 307, last October. Not to mention whether the Brazilian fighter should actually remain in the welterweight category or if he will move up to the heavyweight category (up to 120,2 kg).

Carlos Ulberg
Carlos Ulberg is a native of New Zealand and has Samoan and German ancestry. He made his UFC octagon debut after participating in 'Dana White's Contender Series', but before that he was already popular in kickboxing, having trained at the same gym as MMA stars such as Israel adesanya e Alexander Volkanovsky.
Before dedicating himself full-time to MMA, Ulberg worked as a model and personal trainer, which contributed to his charismatic image and fan base.
