While the UFC's welterweight division (up to 77 kg) is experiencing an apparent renewal with the emergence of names such as Shavkat Rakhmonov e Ian Gary, Leon edwards hopes to get another chance to fight for the belt.

“My goal now is obviously to get the belt back. I’d like to be champion again by this time next year. So just putting the steps in place. I haven’t lost a fight in nine years. I feel like I hate losing more than I love winning. You know there’s not much you can do now. Just move on and put it behind you. For me, it’s more about what’s next and how you get back to where you want to be. My goal is to be a two-time world champion,” he told British website My Protein.

After experiencing an enviable series of victories between xx and xx, including triumphs over names like Nate Dias and Rafael dos Anjos, Leon edwards became welterweight champion (up to 77 kg) by knocking out Kamaru Usman in the last minute of the fifth round and end the second longest undefeated streak in UFC history.

Despite the great feat, the fighter suffered the loss of the title in July of this year, being dethroned by Belal Muhammad | by unanimous decision. Since then, he has not returned to the octagon. The new champion's next opponent will probably come from UFC 310, in which Shavkat Rakhmonov e Ian Gary.
