Recently, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) launched an anti-racist campaign to trace the roots of the national team's players, in partnership with a genetic tracking company. Before the match against Uruguay, last Tuesday (19), the entity carried out an action with the player Vinicius Junior, from Real Madrid, in which it revealed that the striker's ancestors come from Cameroon. And it didn't take long for a big Cameroonian fan to dream of Vini Jr. defending the colors of the Central African country: Francis Ngannou.

The 'Golden Roots' campaign uncovered Vini Jr.'s family roots in the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. Despite also having roots in France, Ngannou has always shown pride in being Cameroonian. Through his official 'Instagram' account, the PFL champion and former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) posted a photo of himself wearing a jersey from the African team with the name and number of the Brazilian star, in addition to 'campaigning' for Vini Jr. to change his tune.
“I already have my VINÍCIUS JR. jerseys ready for the Cameroon national team. Brother @vinijr, we are waiting for you at home impatiently. @fifaworldcup here we come!”, wrote Ngannou in the 'Instagram' post.
Only in dreams
But unfortunately, they threw water on Ngannou's beer, and he probably won't be able to have his dream come true. This is because Vini Jr. would need to have, at the very least, grandparents born in Cameroon, since the star was born in Brazil and has never lived in the African country. Another restriction is that the Real Madrid player has already played in official competitions at the senior level for the Brazilian National Team, such as the World Cup and the Copa América.
