Shortly after being convicted of sexual assault against Nikita Hand at trial last Friday (22), Conor McGregor made clear his dissatisfaction with the jury's decision and promised, through posts on social media, to appeal. Last Monday (25), also through social media, the Irishman reiterated his intention to appeal against the conviction.
In a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter), the former UFC featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion admitted regret for having cheated on his wife at the time, but assured that everything that happened on the night in question with Nikita Hand would have been consensual.

“People want to hear from me, but I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her advances. I should have ended the party. I should have never cheated on the woman I love most in the world. This is all my fault. While I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my team to appeal this decision. I cannot take it back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful for my family, friends and supporters from around the world who have stood by me. This is it. No more. Back to the gym. Fights await!” wrote the ‘Notorious’.
The sexual assault conviction has already had real effects for Conor McGregor, in addition to compensation of around 250 thousand euros (approximately R$ 1,5 million). In recent days, the studio responsible for the video game 'Hitman', which would feature the Irishman's voice acting, announced the fighter's cut and consequently three marketing campaigns in which he would participate.
The UFC, however, has yet to make a public statement about the future of Conor McGregor after the serious conviction.
