On the eve of the grand finals of the 2023 season, the PFL announced this Tuesday (26) an important change in the rules of this Friday's event (29). In a post on social media, the organization announced the release of elbows in all 16 fights on the card.
A common sight at MMA events around the world, elbow strikes were not allowed during PFL seasons due to the organization's tournament format, which requires fighters to be available for multiple fights in a short space of time. The ban on the strike is intended to minimize the risk of cuts and more serious injuries.

As this is a card with the six finals of the PFL tournaments, in addition to the decisions of the PFL Mena, which includes athletes from the Middle East, the organization chose to allow elbows in all fights.
The event that marks the end of the 2024 PFL season takes place this Friday (29), in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Former UFC belt challenger, Taila Santos is the only Brazilian involved in the finals and faces the undefeated British Dakota Ditcheva in the final of the flyweight tournament (up to 65,7 kg), with her eyes on the US$ 1 million prize (approximately R$ 5,81 million).
