As much as the latest presentations of Israel adesanya Although his performances inside the octagon have not brought good results for the former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), the Nigerian has not stopped being in the spotlight. More than two months after going viral on social media in a video in which he almost got into a street fight with a man, the fighter took advantage of the hiatus in his career to explain the incident.

“I was just chilling and then this guy — I guess because he saw my car — came back and called me out for a fight. I started laughing and kept walking. He was at a green light, everyone was walking around him, honking like, and I just got out of my car. That pissed him off, so he came in front of my car and I was like, ‘Bro, I’m not gonna hit you for free,’” Adesanya said in an interview with the FLAGRANT podcast.

“He started talking trash to me and at one point I even tried to neutralize him because I was like, ‘Bro, I don’t know you.’ I said, ‘Bro, I fight for millions. I’m not going to knock you out for free.’ And he was like, ‘No, I fight for free. I fight for the streets and for my pride.’ I was like, ‘You’re an idiot,’” he continued.

However, even though at first he had no intention of getting physical with the man, the situation changed as his nerves got worse.

“At the end, when I spat at him, I was like, ‘Try something.’ If he spat back, then it was going to start. But again, I’m glad I had a good day. I don’t like street fights. I don’t like confrontation, but if you bring the problem, I’ll solve the problem,” he concluded.

Remember the case

In September of this year, a video of the former champion exchanging barbs and spitting on an unknown man on the streets of New Zealand went viral on social media. At the time, the footage was taken by a passerby, and it was not possible to see how the situation ended. A few weeks before that, the Nigerian had made his return to the octagon in a title fight against Dricus du Plessis, where he was defeated by submission in the fourth round.
