If at any point the search for a second belt in another category was part of the plans of Alexandre pantoja, that's in the past. On the eve of attempting the third defense of the flyweight title (up to 56,7 kg) against Kai Asakura in the main fight of UFC 310, this Saturday (7), the champion was entirely focused on his division.

In an interview with the North American website 'MMA Junkie', Alexandre pantoja admitted that his former interest in moving up to bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg) was due to the possibility of settling differences with former champion Sean O'Malley, dethroned in September by Merab Dvalishvili.

“No, I’m the flyweight champion. I want to stay here for a long time. I only thought about moving up to face O’Malley because we have a history and he said some stupid things. I want to prove that I beat him in the gym and I can beat him in a real fight,” explained the Brazilian.

“I have some good options. Now I just think about Kai Asakura and to give a great show to everyone. That's what I want. To give a show to all my fans on December 7th. It's going to be great”, he concluded.
