The question of who can dethrone Jon Jones from the top is a constant in the UFC world. Even after more than a decade of dominance, 'Bones' remains an enigma for his opponents. However, names like Tom Aspinall and Alex Poatan are beginning to emerge as possibilities to break this hegemony, and former heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) challenger Ciryl Gane gave his opinion on the chances of both in the octagon against the current champion.
In an interview with 'The Ariel Helwani Show', Gane, who faced Jones in 2023 and was defeated by submission, assessed the two fighters' stances and their possibilities. Despite acknowledging Jon Jones ' adaptability and power , Gane compared Aspinall's and Poatan's styles to indicate the Briton as the favorite in a future title fight.

“That’s a good question. Every time we see Jones, like in the fight against Stipe Miocic , anything is possible. He’s very dangerous, able to adapt to changes in his opponents’ styles. He can do anything he wants. I’ll say Tom Aspinall , because he’s more complete. But when you have a guy like Alex Poatan , it can be very difficult too. Anything is possible,” the Frenchman stated.
