Summoned to the UFC 310, which takes place next Saturday (7), Vincent Luque faces a new challenge after an unexpected change of opponent. Originally scheduled to face the veteran and popular Nick Diaz, the Brazilian saw the confrontation change when the American was removed. Although the new duel will not bring the same hype that a fight against Diaz would generate, the 'Silent Assassin' sees positive aspects in the change. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', Vicente highlighted that, from a sporting point of view, the fight with Gorimbo makes more sense. He recognizes that his opponent is a legitimate challenge, given his ambition to enter the rankings, and sees this fight as an opportunity to reaffirm his position and demonstrate that he is still in the running for the top of the division and the title.

“Nick brought a lot of that fan hype. When I look at the UFC, there are a lot of things that can boost you. Maybe the biggest one is hype, and I think the fight with Nick brought that. Now, looking at this fight (against Themba Gorimbo), from a sporting point of view, makes much more sense. It's a challenge, a good guy who is hungry for victory and wants to enter the rankings. I'm here to defend my position and, at the same time, show that I'm still looking for the top, aiming to become champion. This fight brings that”, said Luque.

Vincent Luque is going through the worst moment of his career since his debut in the Ultimate. The Brazilian has three losses in his last four fights. On the other hand, his opponent, Themba Gorimbo, is going through an opposite phase, coming off four consecutive victories after suffering a defeat in his UFC debut in early 2023.
