Convicted at the end of last month of sexual assault in the civil sphere by the Irish Justice, the problems of Conor McGregor may just be getting started. At least that's what former UFC heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) fighter believes, Brendan Schaub. After the verdict, 'The Notorious' was pulled from Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey, a company he founded in 2018, lost sponsorships, followers on social media and suffered a boycott from several Irish stores, which they stopped selling your products. Even your wax statue was removed from the National Wax Museum Plus, Dublin.
According to Schaub, who competed in the UFC from 2009 to 2014, the Irishman could soon face serious financial problems. 'Big Brown' weighed in on McGregor's situation during a recent YouTube video posted to his channel.

“For him to lose (Proper No. Twelve)“You’re talking about millions of dollars a month, lost. There’s no payout… Because when you’re accused of what (McGregor) was accused of, it’s completely against the contract and you don’t get any reserve money, they don’t pay a severance fee. There’s none of that. You’re talking about possibly, I don’t know what they pay him, maybe $5 to $10 million a month,” Schaub projected.
Since the case was closed, several companies have said they will no longer stock products that are linked to Conor McGregor. Proximo Spirits, which now owns the whiskey originally co-founded by the fighter, said it will no longer use The Notorious' name and image in its marketing.
“When you’re betting on it like Conor and you’re spending it like he’s spending it… When he was starting out, $10 million changed his life, right? Let’s say he buys mansions, I bet he bought a few of them. He buys cars, now unless he pays all cash for them, they still have a payment every month… He probably didn’t pay all cash, so he’s crazy monthly just based on what he sees online. It’s a couple million dollars a month… Most of that was funded by the money he was getting from the Proper No. Twelve“, concluded Brendan Schaub.
The case
On November 22, a jury at the High Court in Dublin concluded that McGregor assaulted Nikita Hand at a hotel in the Irish capital in December 2018. After the civil conviction, the Irishman said he intends to appeal the decision.
“I will appeal today’s decision. I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support around the world,” he said.
Hand, who will be compensated €248,603.60 (more than R$1,5 million), said when leaving the High Court in Dublin that the decision is proof of the existence of justice for all citizens.
“I hope my story is a reminder that no matter how scared you are, speak up, you have a voice and you continue to fight for justice. I know this has had a tremendous impact on not only my life, but my daughter’s life, my family and friends. It’s something I will never forget for the rest of my life,” she said.
