The future of the UFC in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) remains uncertain, but a possible battle between Jon Jones e Tom aspinall presents itself as one of the biggest challenges. Brandon Gibson, 'Bones' coach, addressed the possible difficulties that the British fighter could encounter in a confrontation with the current champion of the division.
On SiriusXM's 'MMA Today' show, Gibson didn't mince words when highlighting that the short length of Aspinall's fights could be a negative factor for the Brit.

“We haven’t seen much of Tom (Aspinall) yet, most of his fights last around two and a half minutes. That can be an advantage but also a disadvantage as he hasn’t been tested in deeper waters yet,” said the coach.
Gibson highlighted Jones' ability to take his opponents into the later rounds, where he becomes even more dominant.
“Jon excels at prolonging fights and wearing down his opponents. He is a master at taking his opponents into the fourth and fifth rounds, something he has done to perfection against the big names. Aspinall may be a talented opponent, but Jon has the experience of being a champion and knows exactly what to do in those critical moments.”
At 36, Jon Jones is widely recognized as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. With a record of 28 wins, one loss and one 'no result', 'Bones' made history as the biggest name in the light heavyweight division, moved up a division and also defended the belt in his current division.
Tom aspinall, in turn, is 31 years old and has a record of 15 wins and three losses. The British fighter won the interim heavyweight belt after defeating names such as Sergei Pavlovich e Alexander Volkov, being seen as one of the most promising fighters of the new generation.
