the future of Patrick Pitbull in the PFL/Bellator group is in question. Without a fight scheduled and dissatisfied with his situation in the organization, the Brazilian fighter publicly declared his desire to be released from his contract with the MMA promoter.

In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the current Bellator featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) criticized the way the organization has been run by the PFL, which recently acquired the event.
“The PFL guys seem a little lost. It seems like Bellator is a little too big for them and they don’t know how to act properly,” said the athlete, who also said he was promised fights against Chihiro Suzuki, at Rizin, and Aaron Pico. Neither fight came to fruition.
“We are left with nothing but promises. We lose rhythm and part of our career waiting for something that never happens. It’s bad for me as a champion. I need to stay active. We know that I’m not getting any younger either. So I spoke to my managers and since my contract isn’t that long, it’s close to the end, we’re going to ask to leave. I need to work,” concluded the fighter.
Patricio Pitbull is not the only one
Former lightweight champion of the organization, and widely recognized for his long and successful career in Bellator, Patrick Pitbull hasn't fought since March of this year, when he defended his title against Jeremy kennedy. He not the only one questioning the company. Other athletes like Leandro Higo and even Gegard Mousasi made similar statements.

Bellator has yet to make an official statement regarding the release request. Patrick Pitbull, but the case will certainly have important developments in the coming weeks. The organization may choose to release the athlete or present proposals to keep the Brazilian, given the fighter's successful history.
If an agreement cannot be reached, Pitbull could end up signing with another organization, including the UFC.
