In a direct response to the revelation of Shavkat Rakhmonov about a finish during a training session, Ian Gary appeared calm and focused on what really matters: the fight in UFC 310 next Saturday (7).

During an interview with TalkSport, Garry was asked about Rakhmonov's claim, who had previously said that he had submitted the Irishman during a sparring session. For the Irish fighter, however, the incident in training does not change his preparation or his confidence for the big day.

“Yeah, I got submitted. But it’s training, man. If I told you every time I submitted or won in training, you’d say I’m the best fighter in the world. That’s part of the process, we’re getting ready for the fight,” Garry replied.

And it doesn't stop there. Ian also made a point of highlighting that, although the training involved complicated moments, the reality in the octagon will be very different.

“Training doesn’t define anything. What matters is what will happen on Saturday. If he’s holding on to that, then let him do it on Saturday night. I’m going to put a hole in his head,” he said.

The discussion about the training between the two fighters began after Rakhmonov commented on the session at Kill Cliff FC, where both trained briefly. The Kazakh revealed that, after a while of exchanging blows, he managed to submit Garry.

He even made an observation about the release of a video of the sparring, mentioning that Garry's wife had asked permission to film, but that, contrary to what the Irishman reported, he did not make a point of sharing the part of the recording where the submission took place.
