Kai Asakura feels that the UFC flyweight division (up to 56,7kg) needs a change… and he promises to be exactly that. UFC fans have never seen someone like me fight before. I always go for the final knockout, and I’m here to bring the excitement back to the division,” Asakura said at UFC 310 Media Day on Wednesday (4).

But Asakura doesn't just intend to spice things up in the UFC. The Japanese fighter believes part of the excitement will be dethroning the current flyweight champion, Alexandre Pantoja.

“I don’t feel like Pantoja is too old, in fact I think he’s probably at the peak of his powers. He’s an excellent, well-rounded fighter. For me, it’s obvious that going forward there needs to be a change and a new king in town, and that’s why I’m here, to take over the flyweight division,” he concluded.
