“I like it, as a fan of technical skill and skilled fighters, that’s what this sport is all about. Ian, the second Irish sensation… I’ve trained with him in grappling (before), he’s a good fighter. He got on my back and I had to get him off me, he’s smart and knows how to set things up well,” said the Nigerian.

Aware that the two involved in the fight have already trained together on a few occasions, Adesanya also commented on how this fact could influence the fight, without forgetting to mention his favorite for the fight.

“They both trained with each other, it wasn’t anything in-depth, but when you move with someone several times, you absorb information. I like this fight, but I’m going with Ian Machado Garry – I think it’ll go to a decision, but if Shavkat wins he’ll probably submit Ian, but I’m betting on Ian. I saw a clip of him talking about Shavkat, saying things like ‘I want to be the guy who’s going to take that 0’ and I like that – that’s the energy, that’s the Goku spirit that only a few people have,” the fighter concluded.
