It seems that Stipe Miocic 's farewell from the UFC has finally been formalized. This Thursday (5) the 'UFC Roster Tracker' account on 'X' (formerly Twitter) updated fans that the American of Croatian descent has been officially removed from the Ultimate roster. Unless he signs again with the organization, his retirement is set.
At 42 years old, Miocic announced his retirement after a defeat against Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 309 last November. But he continues working in his other job, with the Ohio Fire Department in the USA. The fighter left the sport as the record holder for title defenses in the UFC heavyweight division, with four successful defenses, three of them consecutive. The fighter, who for many is the greatest heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) in history, built a record of 20 wins and five losses.

Stipe Miocic grew up playing sports, preferring baseball and wrestling, his first martial art, in which he competed in NCAA Division I. At 23, a wrestling colleague took him to train at Strong Style MMA, the gym where he still trains today. He started practicing MMA, but found his main passion at the time in boxing and became the 'Golden Gloves' champion in Cleveland. From there, the transition to MMA was a breeze. After five wins as an amateur, Miocic turned professional in 2010, at age 28, balancing training and fights with his job as a firefighter.

After scoring six consecutive knockouts in regional events, Miocic was signed by the UFC in 2011. He started with three straight wins, until suffering his first career defeat at the hands of the 'giant' Stefan Struve in 2012.
After his first setback, Miocic would go on to lose another fight against Brazilian Junior Cigano in 2014. But it was against a Brazilian, on home soil, that the American became UFC champion, with a knockout victory over then-champion Fabricio Werdum at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba.
Between 2016 and early 2018, Miocic broke the record for heavyweight title defenses, defending the title consecutively against Alistair Overeem , Junior Cigano , and Francis Ngannou . In July 2018, however, the streak would be broken, and a rivalry would be born. At UFC 226, Miocic was knocked out by former light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) Daniel Cormier , but he wouldn't let it go easily. The Croatian descendant shared the octagon with Cormier on two more occasions and defeated his rival on both occasions, in 2019 and 2020.
Stipe Miocic 's reign was interrupted once again in March 2021, this time by Francis Ngannou , who became champion by brutally knocking out the then-title holder at UFC 260 , held during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dethroned, Miocic shifted all his focus to a career as a firefighter, which went from being a part-time job to the former champion's sole occupation for the past three years. Until his defeat to Jon Jones.
