The rivalry between Jamahal Hill and Alex Poatan took another tense turn this Thursday (5). During a meeting at the UFC Performance Institute (PI) in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian threw his gloves and challenged the American to a fight on the spot. Hill's reaction, however, was different from what was expected: he refused the invitation and walked away. The situation only didn't escalate into a physical confrontation because it was quickly contained by coaches Plínio Cruz and Pablo Sucupira.
The exchange of provocations began when Hill approached Poatan and, with a mocking air, said: 'we're not on Twitter', alluding to the frequent jabs between them on social media. Initially, Alex seemed calmer, even greeting Jamahal, but the conversation quickly heated up.

The Brazilian then made a gesture of throwing his gloves at his opponent, suggesting that the fight should take place right there, in the training center. However, his rival preferred to retreat and distance himself.
The tension between the two is nothing new. Since their historic fight at UFC 300 , when Poatan spectacularly knocked out Hill in the first round in his title defense, the atmosphere between them has become even more heated. Alex came out on top in their only encounter, but the former champion, determined to reverse the result, has been fueling the provocations on social media.
However, before any new clash between the two, Jamahal Hill has an important mission ahead. The American will face former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 on January 18, 2024. A victory over the Czech could put him in an even more favorable position for a rematch against Alex Poatan , who, in turn, already has a record of wins over both fighters.
