Even without a fight scheduled, last Thursday (5) was quite busy for Alex Poatán, who was involved in a confusion with Jamahal Hill at the Performance Institute of the UFC and later was crowned 'Fighter of the Year', at the MMA Awards, the 'Oscar' of mixed martial arts. After the awards ceremony, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) spoke about the conflict with his former rival and also about the future.
In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', Poatan downplayed what happened with Jamahal hill and assured that he was focused on his own trajectory.

“It happens. It was the first time it happened to me, but I’m very focused on myself. What he does doesn’t matter. I think he has to worry about his next fight and, who knows, if he wins, he might get a second chance to fight me,” replied the Brazilian.
As for the next step, Alex Poatán expressed interest in returning to the octagon between the end of March and the beginning of April 2025. The Brazilian confirmed that the trend is that Magomed Ankalayev is next in line, but he has assured that he will make things as difficult for the Russian as he can.
“Everything indicates that he will, but it doesn’t depend only on me. He really wants it, but as I said, I have to make things a little harder for him. If I can make things harder, I will. Not out of fear, because everyone knows who I’ve faced and I’m not afraid to fight, but I would like to make things harder for him because of the lies he told,” he promised.
