Even without a scheduled fight, last Thursday (5) was quite eventful for Alex Poatan , who got involved in a brawl with Jamahal Hill at the UFC Performance Institute and, later, was crowned 'Fighter of the Year' at the MMA Awards, the 'Oscars' of mixed martial arts. After the awards ceremony, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) spoke about the conflict with his former rival and also about the future.
In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', Poatan downplayed the incident with Jamahal Hill and assured that he is focused on his own career.

“It happens. It was the first time it happened to me, but I’m very focused on myself. What he does doesn’t matter. I think he has to worry about his next fight and, who knows, if he wins, he might get a second chance to fight me,” replied the Brazilian.
Regarding the next step, Alex Poatan expressed interest in returning to the octagon between the end of March and the beginning of April 2025. The Brazilian confirmed that Magomed Ankalaev is likely to be next in line, but guaranteed that he will make things as difficult as possible for the Russian.
“Everything indicates that he will, but it doesn’t depend only on me. He really wants it, but as I said, I have to make things a little harder for him. If I can make things harder, I will. Not out of fear, because everyone knows who I’ve faced and I’m not afraid to fight, but I would like to make things harder for him because of the lies he told,” he promised.
