Absent from UFC 310 , champion Belal Muhammad , who was to defend his welterweight title (up to 77,1 kg) against Shavkat Rakhmonov in the main event, tried almost everything to get into action at the event this Saturday (7) and even considered drastic measures.
In an interview given to 'MMA Junkie' on the 'red carpet' of the MMA Awards, last Thursday (5), the welterweight champion revealed that he had considered amputating his injured toe in order to take action at UFC 307.

“I got to the point where I asked the doctor what would happen if we got rid of the toe. I wanted to get back to playing as soon as possible, but the way the doctor was talking about it, it was a bone infection. They talked about it as if it was just a broken toe, but I had the broken toe for over a year. That’s why the toe got infected, the infection went to the bone and was going up my foot. The doctor said I would have to have the foot amputated if I didn’t stop. It was heartbreaking, but I always believed that God has a plan for me and that everything happens for a reason,” explained the champion.
On the eve of UFC 307 , Belal Muhammad assures that the worst is over and that he is cleared to return to competition, but that he first needs to get back into his former physical shape.
“I’m cleared to go back, but now I need to get back to where I was. I literally did 50 push-ups and I felt like I was in a war and had been run over by a truck. Is this what it feels like to be out of shape? It’s crazy,” he concluded.
