Kai Asakura , former Rizin champion, had never been submitted in his fighting career. Cold and calculating, Pantoja entered the octagon focused and quickly showed his intention: to take the Japanese fighter to the ground for a submission. And he succeeded. Midway through the second round, the Brazilian locked in a rear-naked choke that only failed to knock out the Japanese fighter because the referee intervened.
