Movsar Evloev, who defeated Diego Lopes last year at UFC 288 , claimed another victim this past Saturday (7) at UFC 310 in Las Vegas, USA. The Russian defeated former champion Aljamain Sterling on the preliminary card of the event by unanimous decision of the judges. Now, the 30-year-old fighter has 19 wins and remains undefeated in the organization.
The victory at UFC 310 has certainly placed Movsar Evloev on the list of potential title challengers in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg). Ranked 5th, the Russian fighter believes he deserves a shot at the gold currently held by Ilia Topuria , but explained that he doesn't plan to sit around waiting too long.

“Finally he [Sterling] is on my list, so let’s take a step forward. I think I deserve a title shot. If not, give me another fight. I’m not going to wait another year to fight again. Just two months, maybe, and I’ll be ready for a fight,” Evloev said.
Ahead of Evloev, however, is likely Alexander Volkanovski (ranked #1), who is planning a rematch with Topuria, as well as Diego Lopes (ranked #3). Evloev, however, questioned whether the Brazilian-born Mexican fighter really wants this fight and provoked him. According to the Russian, he offered to fight Lopes after defeating Sterling, but Lopes refused.
“I don’t know about Volkanovski, because he’s a great legend, maybe he deserves to fight for the title again. To try [to reclaim] his title. I’m not sure about Diego Lopes , that kid is good, he’s done a great job in his last fights, especially after losing to me. But I don’t think he’s looking for a fight against Ilia or me, or fighters like us. He needs something easier. That’s why he’s not running back,” Evloev provoked.
Like Evloev, Ilia Topuria remains undefeated in the UFC, with 16 wins to his name. The Russian fighter expressed respect for the featherweight champion, but stated that he is confident in taking the gold from the Georgian-Spanish fighter.
“I think he’s a great fighter. I think everybody thinks so. He just took down some legends. He’s strong, and his wrestling is good, his striking is incredible. But like I said, I’m the only one right now in the featherweight division that can stop him. So I have enough power and will to stop this guy. And nothing but respect for this guy. All I need from him is his title,” he concluded.
