The historic rivalry between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort has gained a new chapter on social media, months after 'The Phenomenon' made statements about his defeat at UFC 126. This time, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) of the organization did not speak directly, but made his opinion clear through a curious reaction: a series of laughing emojis in response to the comment.
Instead of commenting directly on the matter, 'Spider' decided to speak out through his Instagram account, in one of SUPER LUTAS ' posts ( see here ). In the comments, the former champion limited himself to leaving laughing emojis, a reaction that, for many, can be interpreted as a dig at his former challenger.

In September 2024, Vitor Belfort gave an interview to the program 'ESPN Knockout', where he spoke about his defeat to Anderson Silva , which occurred in February 2011. For the former light heavyweight champion, that setback was caused by a strategic error, and, had he had more opportunities to face his conqueror, the result would have been different.
“I was superior to him in boxing and on the ground, but at that moment, I couldn't execute my strategy. I think if we fought ten times, I would lose this one and win the other nine,” said Belfort.
