Almost a month after his duel with Jake Paul, Mike Tyson made a worrying revelation, to say the least. In an interview with the North American channel Fox Sports Radio last Tuesday (10), the former world heavyweight boxing champion admitted with strangeness the fact that he could not remember exactly the fight against the youtuber.
“I don’t remember much of the fight, I kind of blacked out a little bit. I remember coming back from the first round and Jake was bowing, and that’s the last thing I remember. Magically, it happened so fast. Eight rounds were over quickly. I wasn’t tired, I wasn’t sweating. I didn’t understand that,” said the boxing legend.
The former champion's statements are cause for concern for several reasons. The fight against Jake Paul brought to the public the biggest age difference ever recorded in a professional fight. In addition, Tyson also admitted shortly after the fight that he had experienced serious health problems at the beginning of the year, requiring eight blood transfusions to save his life.
At 58 years old, Iron Mike had not competed as a professional since 2005. In November 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, he held an exhibition fight against fellow former boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. over eight rounds. With no official scorecards, the fight ended in a draw.
