It is important to point out that Paddy Pimblett e Ilia Topuria have a long history of rivalry. Back in 2022, when both were unranked and seeking the top of their respective categories, the two had a series of heated discussions in the days leading up to the UFC 282.
Since then, Pimblett remains undefeated in the Ultimate, with six triumphs. Topuria, on the other hand, crossed the featherweight category (up to 65,7 kg) and won the belt by knockout. Alexander Volkanovsky. Most recently, he defended the title against Max Holloway, and became the first to turn off the Hawaiian's lights.
Now, the Georgian/Spanish fighter has expressed interest in moving up to the lightweight category (up to 70,3 kg), a category that Pimblett and other big names in the sport compete in. He even challenged Charles of the Bronx, in a fight to define the next challenger for the title.
