The increasingly strong indications of a definitive move to lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) by Ilia Topuria have generated interesting reactions from several fighters, including Paddy Pimblett . Last Tuesday (10), the English fighter made a post on Instagram in which he acknowledged the arrival of “New Blood” in the division.

It's important to point out that Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria have a long history of rivalry. Back in 2022, when both were up-and-coming and vying for the top spot in their respective weight classes, the two had a series of heated arguments in the days leading up to UFC 282.
Since then, Pimblett remains undefeated in the UFC, with six wins. Topuria, on the other hand, moved up through the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg) and won the belt by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski . More recently, he defended the title against Max Holloway , becoming the first to knock out the Hawaiian's title.
Now, the Georgian/Spanish fighter has expressed interest in permanently moving up to the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), the category of Pimblett and other big names in the sport. He even challenged Charles Oliveira in a fight to determine the next title challenger.
