About to face Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg) at UFC 311 , Arman Tsarukyan is receiving some interesting help in his training. The Brazilian faced Makhachev in 2015. At the time, the fighter was the Russian's first major test, bringing a high level of jiu-jitsu to the fight. The fight remained standing, and Martins secured the victory in less than two minutes after landing a powerful right cross and knocking out his opponent, who had Khabib Nurmagomedov in his corner. Besides Makhachev, he also has a victory against Rustam Khabilov, the first member of the Dagestan clan to sign with the UFC.

Shortly after, Martins left the UFC and began competing in smaller events. His last appearance was in March 2024, with a split decision victory over Donovan Desmae, in a welterweight bout (up to 77,1 kg), at the Kongs FC 2 event. He returns to action on December 27.

Makhachev restarted his winning streak after being knocked out by Adriano Martins. Since that defeat, he has 14 consecutive wins, including a victory against Arman Tsarukyan himself . If he beats the Armenian again, he will join Kamaru Usman in the second-longest winning streak in the event's history, behind only Anderson Silva.
