Jamahal hill recently made headlines after nearly getting into a physical altercation with Alex Poatán at the UFC Performance Institute. According to the American, the incident, which began as a heated exchange, was sparked by their rivalry on social media. In a YouTube interview with Helen Yee, the former champion detailed how it all began.

Hill explained that the tension with Poatan at the UFC Performance Institute began after an exchange of provocations on social media. The American said that he went to Alex personally to say that he was preparing for his next fight and that, after winning it, he would face the Brazilian.

“We had an exchange where he said something on Twitter. And I just went up to him personally and said, 'I'm coming. I'm putting in the work. Don't rush to the heavyweights. Once I get this guy sorted out, you're next.' That's basically how it started, and then it escalated,” Hill said.

According to Hill, tensions quickly escalated when Poatan made a comment about their first fight. However, Hill made it clear that the conversation was never a proposal to fight at that moment, but rather a competitive taunt that eventually escalated.

“He said, 'You woke up from UFC 300,' and I said, 'I'm wide awake now and I'm going to put you to sleep for real.' It was never like, 'Oh, let's fight now,' or anything like that. It was just competitive talk, and after that, that's what people saw," the former champion explained.

For Hill, a fight with Poatan is the ultimate goal, but before thinking about a rematch with the Brazilian, he has another former champion to face: Jiří Procházka. The two will face each other on the main card of the UFC 311, scheduled for January 18, in Los Angeles, United States.
