Lightweight world champion by the International Boxing Federation, Bia Ferreira will start the year on top of the world. Last Saturday (14), the champion won the first defense of the belt by defeating the Frenchwoman Licia Bourdesa in the unanimous decision of the judges in an event held in the luxurious Monte Carlo, in the principality of Monaco.
With the colors of Brazil represented on her gloves, Bia Ferreira was dominant throughout the ten rounds of the fight. Fighting aggressively, as usual, the Brazilian gave no space to the Frenchwoman and came close to knocking out her rival, who managed to resist until the end and take the fight to the judges' decision, who scored all the rounds in favor of the Bahian.

Two-time world champion in amateur boxing, Bia Ferreira gained notoriety by winning Olympic silver at the Tokyo Games in 2021. At the last edition of the Games, in Paris this year, the Brazilian took bronze. In parallel, Bia began her career in professional boxing in 2022 and, in April of this year, she became world champion.
