Defeated by Joaquin Buckley after medical intervention due to a deep cut on his eyelid in the third round of the main event at UFC Tampa , last Saturday (14), Colby Covington was not at all happy with the stoppage and believes he was harmed.

In a video recorded after the fight and published on his official YouTube channel, the former interim welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) stated that he was just 'warming up' and felt ready to turn the fight around in the last two rounds, although the judges' scorecards scored the first two rounds for Buckley, who was also winning the third round before the medical intervention.

'I was just warming up in that fight. I think it was tied 1-1 and I was starting to wear him down. I could see him breathing through his mouth. I was starting to land more shots. It's a shame they stopped it,' lamented 'Chaos'.

In Colby Covington 's opinion , the outcome of the fight means that he wasn't defeated by Joaquin Buckley , but rather by the doctor responsible for stopping the fight.

“Even Dana said that if this fight had been in Vegas, it would never have been stopped. I took some hard hits like they were nothing. They didn’t faze me. I’ll come back stronger. I feel like I was starting to get the momentum. This was going to be my fight in the championship rounds. It was an unfortunate stoppage and I feel like I was outmatched by the doctor today,” he concluded.
