José Aldo may have in its future another opponent with little reputation, to say the least. After winning Ramon Taveras on the preliminary card of UFC Tampa last Saturday, the veteran davey grant admitted in the post-event press conference that a fight against the King of Rio would be a dream come true.

“If we talk about dream fights, José Aldo – I’ve been following him for years. If I were to pick someone, for sure – that would be no disrespect to him. He’s an absolute legend of the sport. So if we were talking about dream fights, that’s who I would pick.”

At 38 years old, the fighter has been part of the biggest MMA organization in the world since 2013, when he reached the final of TUF 18 against Chris Holdsworth. Since then, the athlete has achieved victories against names of the caliber of Jhonathan Martinez and Raphael Assunção, but never had much prominence at the event.

It is important to highlight that since his return to MMA in UFC 301, in May of this year, Aldo accepted fights against little-known names, such as Jhonathan Martinez and mario bautista.

José Aldo is not the only option

Although the idea of ​​facing the former champion occupies a considerable space in his psyche, Grant also admitted to working with a more accessible possibility. The British fighter was defeated by split decision in his last appearance in London, in July 2023. Therefore, a confrontation with an old opponent in the English capital is also on his mind.

"Cody Gibson said, 'Look, I hope you get the win and then maybe we can fight again in London.' So if I can fight him in London, (I will). If Cody Gibson want to go, I hope London in March, so let's go", concluded the fighter, who was forced to withdraw from a fight with the North American earlier this year.
