The new MMA organization, Global Fight League (GFL), recently made a announcement that promises to shake up the sport's scene. But despite the innovative concept and the roster full of well-known names, the reaction of many fans was not extremely positive, as many of the main fighters announced are in the final years of their careers or are seen as retired. When asked about the new competition, Dana White seemed unconcerned.
During the press conference after the UFC Tampa, Dana did not criticize the GFL. On the contrary, the Ultimate president welcomed the promotion and invited them to try their luck in MMA. With a smile on his face, he said he was happy to see how other promotions will try to compete and do things differently.

“I don’t really know anything about it. I see it all the time, I welcome everyone. Listen, there’s no barrier to entry in this sport. I hear a lot of people saying we ‘don’t do this right’ or ‘don’t do that right’. Come on everybody, dive in,” Dana said.
While White said he was unfamiliar with the promotion's recent announcement after hearing a list of some of the top names acquired by the GFL, he did give his response after learning about some of the fighters the organization has recruited. There was a particular focus on Wanderlei Silva, who, at 48 years old, hasn't fought since leaving the UFC in 2013 and returned to compete twice in Bellator, in 2017 and 2018.
“Fascinating. I’ll believe it when I see it,” concluded the UFC president.
