One of the most anticipated fights of 2025 is the unification of the heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) belts. While Jon Jones seeks to end his career with another great triumph, Tom Aspinall tries to create his own legacy by facing one of the best fighters in history. Amidst this situation, for one of the UFC heavyweights, the Englishman is the favorite for the fight.

Curtis Blaydes , currently ranked fifth in the division and a former opponent of Aspinall, stated in an interview with the American YouTube channel Sportskeeda that the interim champion's fighting style could pose problems for Jones.
“I think one area where Tom can win is by closing the distance. Jon Jones gets away with staying in front of his opponent and just attacking and poking from the inside, leg kicks and front kicks. I don’t think Aspinall will allow him to stay at that distance, I think he’ll be attacking him, inside and outside,” he stated.
The fighter, who was knocked out by Aspinall in the first round, said he believes Bones could have a similar fate to his.
“I think in one of those back-and-forths, he’ll be able to catch him. He definitely has speed. I think he’ll get into range and land an overhand , and it’ll probably be early… So, yeah, I think it’ll happen early,” Blaydes concluded.
Tom Aspinall has multiple first round wins
In nine UFC fights, Tom Aspinall only went to the second round once, when he defeated Andrei Arlovski by submission. Against Blaydes, the Briton lost after 15 seconds of fighting due to a knee injury. In the rematch, in July of this year, he secured a knockout victory in one minute.
