Gilbert Burns didn't let Chael Sonnen 's comment about his possible retirement go unanswered . The former fighter for the organization, on his YouTube channel, speculated that the Brazilian was no longer competing, even though he remained in the welterweight rankings (up to 77kg), and suggested that he was already 'officially retired' from the sport. The reaction was immediate.
Sonnen's statement came as he discussed possibilities for the future of Joaquin Buckley , who had defeated Colby Covington at UFC Tampa . Chael said a fight between "Knockout Man" and Burns would be interesting, but he also considered the Brazilian's future.

“It would be perfect for Joaquin Buckley and Gilbert Burns (Durinho). By the way, I know he's ranked, but he's no longer competing. He's no longer in contention. He's officially retired from the sport. We've been hearing rumors,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel.
Durinho leaked Sonnen's number
However, Durinho did not take the provocation well. The Brazilian, with a clear tone of irritation, responded directly and bluntly.
" Chael Sonnen 's level of disrespect is appalling. I never expected this from you. Do you still have this number? I'm calling you to see what's going on," he replied on his official 'X' account.
With that, Durinho not only criticized the former fighter's speech but also leaked Sonnen's phone number, which generated a flood of calls to the North American.
The exchange of barbs between Sonnen and Burns is nothing new for those who follow MMA closely. The former fighter has always been known for his provocations, especially when the subject involved Brazilian fighters, with whom he had a rivalry built over the years.
