Sonnen made lemonade out of lemons. After Gilbert Durinho leak his phone number 'X' (formerly Twitter), Chael took to his YouTube channel and answered a fan Q&A session for nearly an hour – complete with an announcement from his sponsor. The Brazilian fighter provided the number after a provocation on the program 'Bad Guy, good guy', when the North American suggested that Durinho was retired.

“A level of disrespect from Chael Sonnen. I never expected this from you. Do you still have this number? I'm calling you to see what's going on,” he replied on his official account, leaking the contact.
In the video titled 'Gilbert Durinho posted Chael's phone number, the former fighter explains how the situation reached this level, telling how the comment was on the program he shares with Daniel Cormier. He also recognizes that he was wrong when he did the same.
“I said, 'Hey, I love the idea of Gilbert, I know he's still in the rankings, but he's out of the group. Gilbert Burns (Durinho) is retired.' He officially retired after his last fight. And, folks, to this day, I still think I'm right. In fact, I'm clearly not right. Somewhere along the line, my memory betrayed me. But I can still stop and think. I remember Gilbert saying that. So Gilbert goes on Twitter and plays the game. (…) I can't be openly angry for two reasons. One: I really like Gilbert Burns (Durinho), over the years he's done me a few favors, so I owe Gilbert to some extent, so it's very hard to be mad at him. Two, I created this: I did this with Chad Mendes and it was such a dumb move, Chad was busy preparing to fight for a world championship,” Sonnen explained before answering a flurry of audio and video calls.
Spell against the sorcerer
Chael Sonnen got a taste of his own medicine in this episode. The former fighter once posted the number of Chad Mendes on social media after Mendes failed to respond to his text messages ahead of his interim featherweight title fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 189.
