Renato Moicano isn't afraid to speak his mind when it comes to the UFC. In an exchange with former champion Michael Bisping , the Brazilian fighter criticized what he considers "dirty work" for Brazilian athletes, who, according to him, are put at a disadvantage when it comes to determining the matchups.
In an interview with Bisping's podcast, Renato commented that the UFC, when looking for fighters for certain challenges, often chooses Brazilians to face opponents in difficult fights, as part of a strategy that favors other athletes, while at the same time putting Brazilian athletes in complicated situations. According to him, when the organization needs someone to 'do the dirty work', it is a compatriot who ends up being called for this task.

“Where do you get your salary from? I’m not disagreeing with you, a fight is a fight. How many times have we seen Matt Serra versus ‘GSP’? It happens. Like you said, how many English fighters does the UFC have? How many French fighters do they have? And how many Brazilian fighters do they have? If they need someone to do the hard work, they’ll call a Brazilian and if he loses, they have another one,” Moicano said.
The athlete's statement comes in a context of increasing visibility for Brazilian fighters in the UFC, who traditionally, over decades, have formed the backbone of the organization, but also frequently find themselves in challenging situations when it comes to matchmaking.

Moicano, in particular, has become a recent example of this dynamic. At 35 years old, the fighter has been overcoming challenges that many would consider risky bets. Starting with his series of four consecutive victories, highlighted by the surprising triumph over Jalin Turner at UFC 300 , which made the public look at him differently.
Furthermore, Moicano didn't hesitate to travel to France and secure a significant victory against Benoit Saint-Denis , which further boosted his international profile. Now, the fighter is about to step into action again. On January 18th, he will face the experienced Beneil Dariush at UFC 311.
