UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) and 'Fighter of the Year' in 2024, Alex Poatan is already making plans for the next season, and, contrary to what has been said recently, they do not seem to involve Magomed Ankalaev.
On the night of last Wednesday (18), the champion went to social media and, in a short and blunt manner, indicated that his next fight in the octagon will not be against the Russian light heavyweight (up to 93 kg), first placed in the category ranking.

“It won’t be Ankalaev!” Poatan wrote, accompanied by a crying emoji.
The Brazilian's post caused multiple reactions among his legion of followers. Some believe that Poatan is playing the famous "mind games" against Ankalaev, others think that the champion's statement could mean a return to the octagon in March, a month in which the Russian would be unavailable due to Ramadan, a holy period for Muslims. There are still those who believe that this statement indicates the continuation of plans to move up to heavyweight in search of the third UFC belt.
Fans weren't the only ones impacted by the post. Quickly, Magomed Ankalaev himself spoke out and responded in a curt and blunt manner, calling Poatan a 'chicken'.
