In addition to recalling the old controversies involving the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) and current heavyweight title holder (up to 120,2 kg), Covington also placed himself in a superior position to his rival.

Shortly after the UFC Tampa, Jones took to X (formerly Twitter) and quoted US President-elect Donald Trump during his provocation of the welterweight (up to 77,1 kg). Covington is one of the organization's top fighters to show support for the Republican.

“A big salute to Colby covington for missing training to get President Trump ready. We all appreciate the sacrifice. At least he (Trump) saw me win,” wrote the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), who had the audience of the President-elect of the United States in his victory over Stipe Miocic in November.
