Even though he was knocked out in the first round of the main fight of the UFC 300 by Alex Poatán, Jamahal hill continues to be one of the most talked about athletes in the light heavyweight category (up to 93 kg) due to controversial statements and attitudes. Even though much of the repercussion is not exactly in his favor, the former champion seems to be happy with the engagement he has achieved.

In an interview with the Canadian website Bodog Canada, the fighter reflected on the inactivity he experienced in recent years, caused mainly by an Achilles tendon injury, and how he managed to remain relevant despite it.
“If you want to talk about me, talk about me. But let’s make sure my name is in the right place. I’ve fought once in the last two years. Who’s dominating the headlines? Every time they see my face, they can’t help but run to my comments section to talk about me. Who’s living in whose head, rent-free? All publicity is good publicity,” Hill said, also stating that she received a lot of attention even during the week of the UFC 310.

Among the American's latest actions is one interaction with Poatan at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. Regarding the encounter, in which the two fighters could have come to blows, Hill downplayed the situation and said he did not understand everything the Brazilian said.
“After he said that last part, he (Plínio Cruz, Poatan’s coach and translator) kind of stopped translating for me. The situation wasn’t even that serious, bro. It was a fun interaction. I mean, seeing that the competitive fire is there, he’s ready to go, I’m ready to step up and fight him,” he concluded.

Jamahal Hill may get another shot at the belt
As much as the fighter has gotten a lot of looks outside the octagon, he will also have the opportunity to get back into the winning column in UFC 311, the first numbered event of 2025, on January 18. He will face another former champion, Jiri Prochazka. In case of victory, he will remain as one of the best light heavyweights (up to 93 kg) in the world and could seek a second opportunity against Poatan.
