Jon Jones seems to be approaching the end of his career in the UFC octagon, and the one giving the signs of this is none other than Daniel Cormier. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', his former archrival revealed an interesting interpretation of 'Bones' current situation. According to the former fighter, the current heavyweight belt holder (up to 120,2kg) is preparing the ground for his retirement and, more specifically, for a high-value negotiation.
Cormier has always been attentive to the former light heavyweight champion's movements. And, according to him, Jones is clearly in a process of public negotiation. In the former fighter's view, his rival is orchestrating a strategic exit from the sport, using the talks surrounding a possible fight against Tom aspinall to ensure a farewell payment that justifies the continuation of his career.

“He’s not scared of anyone, but he wants a significant amount of money to close out his career. He’s almost ready to leave the UFC. What he wants is one last big payday, to get out of the way and put an end to his career,” Cormier said.
For the former light heavyweight champion, the possibility of facing Aspinall is not just a fight of sporting interest, but a negotiation in which the value of the payment is the main point.
“Jon is saying, ‘If I’m going to fight, I want to be compensated fairly, maybe over the top, so I can leave the sport with what it deserves,’” he said.
And the situation puts the UFC in a dilemma: hold on to Jones for a while longer or meet his financial demands and make room for a farewell? The truth is that 'Bones' has always been a difficult name to keep under control when it comes to negotiations.
