The countdown to the UFC 312 has already started, and Sean Strickland is in full swing in his preparation. With just over two months to go until the long-awaited rematch against Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg), the American has dedicated himself not only to adjusting his fighting style, but also facing a great challenge: cutting weight. The fight takes place on February 8, in Australia.
In a video released by 'Stun Gun Kim' on social media, it is possible to see that Sean weighs around 101kg and will have to cut almost 18kg until he reaches the middleweight division limit, which is 83,9kg with no pound tolerance for fights for 'gold' in Dana White's company.

The fight against Du Plessis, scheduled for February 2025, promises to be one of Strickland's biggest challenges to date. In their first meeting, in January 2024, Dricus emerged victorious in a controversial fight, when the judges' decision was split.
Since his defeat, Strickland has been on a 'campaign' to secure his rematch. For another opportunity to fight for the belt, the American had to win. Paulo borrachinha in June of this year.
On the other hand, Du Plessis further consolidated his reign by defeating Israel adesanya in a dominant performance in August. He finished the Nigerian, made his first title defense and caught the attention of even Alex Poatán, who considered dropping down a division to face him.
Sean Strickland currently weighs 223lbs ahead of his bout vs. Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312.
