Throughout his life, Jon Jones has had numerous run-ins with the law. As an adult, the fighter lost his title and experienced long hiatuses in his career after being arrested on several occasions. However, the current UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) experienced his most memorable moment behind bars in his late teens.

During an interview with the American YouTube channel 'Alex G Was Here', Jones recalled when he was arrested for a few months due to a street fight and his encounter with an inmate that marked his memory.
“The longest I’ve ever spent [in prison] was three months when I was a kid, I got into a fight with a guy outside his house and they called it robbery. I think I was 17 and I think I got arrested for that. I didn’t fight anybody in prison. But man, a robber told me one time, ‘You’re not like me, you’re not like me,’ he said, ‘You grew up on the wrestling team, if you knocked me to the ground you probably would have thought it was over and you won,” Bones said.

Even though, at that time, the young man already had a relevant trajectory in combat sports, especially in grappling, Jones realized that an eventual confrontation could bring about a different scenario.
“He was like, ‘If I knock you out, I’m going to drag your leg to the wall and I’m going to put your leg up against the wall and I’m going to stomp on your knees.’ And I’ll never forget when he stomped on the floor, I was like 17 or 18 years old… I’ll never forget when he stomped on the floor. I was shaken. I was sitting there with a straight face, like I wasn’t scared, but deep down I was terrified. It’s funny because now it’s really hard to intimidate me or scare me,” the champ concluded.
