The long-awaited return of Conor McGregor to combat sports has been a topic of speculation, especially since his last UFC fight in 2021. Initially scheduled to return to MMA and face Michael chandler in July, the Irishman has no confirmed opponent, as the fight was cancelled due to a broken toe. Despite this, UFC CEO Dana White has repeatedly stated that McGregor will eventually return to the Octagon.

However, McGregor has hinted that his return could take a different path. The former two-division UFC champion recently stated that discussions are underway for a potential boxing match against social media star and occasional boxer Logan Paul.

During a recent episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer podcast, Matt Brown said he believes McGregor would likely choose to fight Logan Paul because it would offer a much higher financial return than facing high-level opponents. The former fighter pointed out that by fighting the YouTuber, the Irishman would be facing a less qualified opponent, but with the advantage of a bigger payday.

“There’s so much money to be made fighting Logan Paul. Of course, he would do it. He doesn’t need to go back and fight a damn guy.” Islam makhachev or something like that, or Dustin poirier, or Nate diaz, or whatever. He just needs to go and box a guy who is not a professional boxer,” Brown commented.

Matt Brown sees uncertain future for McGregor and rules out return to UFC

Despite the possibility of Conor facing Logan Paul in boxing, the Irishman is still under contract with the UFC. Matt Brown expresses uncertainty about McGregor's future, but believes that if he fights outside the UFC, it would depend on the organization's permission. However, the former fighter is clear in stating that McGregor will not fight in the UFC again, as he does not see a chance of that happening again.

“Does he fight Logan Paul? That’s a good question. I don’t know. I’m going to say I don’t know. Does he fight in the UFC? I think that’s a clear no. Does he fight outside of the UFC? I think it’s always possible for him to fight outside of the UFC, if the UFC allows it. I don’t know if the UFC is going to support that. I just don’t know how those deals are going to play out. But does he fight in the UFC? No, and I’ll leave it at that. He’s not going to be in the UFC. I don’t think he’ll fight in the UFC again,” the former UFC fighter concluded.
