In an interview with 'The Pacman Jones Show' on YouTube, Cerrone revealed that he will come out of retirement with the goal of returning to the octagon in mid-2025. Although he is excited about the return, 'Cowboy' plans to fight just two fights and reach the 50-fight milestone in his career.

“I just got back into the testing program, so I have to stay clean for six months,” Cerrone said. “Probably in June or July we’ll make our comeback. I’m coming back for two fights. Just two more. I want 50 fights. I promised my wife that no matter what happens, no matter the outcome, it’s going to be two fights and that’s it.”

Dana White disapproves of Cerrone's return

In October, Donald Cerrone said he hoped to return to reach the milestone of 50 fights, which already includes 48 fights in total, between UFC and WEC combined. After the announcement, UFC president Dana White stated that he didn't like it at all and hoped that 'Cowboy' would reconsider.

“I hate this. I hate this. I like him, but I hate this. Cerrone shouldn’t be thinking about fighting again. Cerrone needs to think about what’s next. He should have thought about this two years ago, but apparently he didn’t, and he needs to think about it. But we’re here for him. We love Cerrone. We’ll help him in any way we can. I don’t want to see him get punched in the face again,” said Dana White.

Donald Cerrone announced his retirement in July 2022 after suffering his sixth consecutive defeat. The 41-year-old fighter hasn't won a fight in almost five years, his last victory being by decision against Al Iaquinta in May 2019.
