the defeat of Alex Poatán No. UFC 313 for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) continues to give people something to talk about. The Brazilian, who suffered from the pressure of Magomed Ankalayev standing and on the fence, was defeated by the judges' unanimous decision, but the result divided opinions among fans and analysts. For Tom aspinall, however, there is no discussion.
In an interview with the channel 'JNMediaUK', Aspinall stated that he does not understand who scored Poatan's victory in the main fight of the night. According to him, 'it is absurd' that the fans defended the score for the Brazilian, considering Ankalaev's strategic game.

“I can’t believe anyone watched that fight and thought Poatan won. It’s absurd to see how many uninformed fans there are, and how many thought the fight was boring. For me, it was incredible. Ankalaev was much better. He kept Poatan guessing the whole time. Even without investing completely in takedowns, he tired Poatan out with his standing grappling. He had the perfect plan,” said the fighter.
Aspinall highlighted Ankalaev's tactical intelligence, which avoided unnecessary risks during the title fight. He also commented on the rumors of a possible move by Alex to heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) and says he would not mind facing him.
“Only two or three of the 10 or 11 takedowns attempted were with full force. The rest were to wear him down, to use the cage. He didn’t overcommit himself (…) He’s a megastar. He can fight at light heavyweight, heavyweight or wherever he wants. I just want to fight for the undisputed title, no matter who I’m against,” he explained.
