Belal Muhammad took the belt from Leon Edwards at UFC 304, held in July 2024, but it seems the rivalry remains heated. As soon as the Briton opened his mouth to suggest some reasons for losing the title, the Palestinian responded in kind.

In an interview with 'UFC on TNT', Edwards revealed that he suffered an injury before facing Belal at UFC 304, however, he underestimated his opponent and decided to fight anyway.

“Going into the fight, there were injuries. The biggest thing that made a difference was the time, fighting at 5 in the morning. I just thought, ‘It’s Belal (laughs). I can beat Belal,’” Edwards said.

Belal's response came via a post on 'X', where Muhammad said that Leon Edwards makes too many excuses for his fights and that, therefore, Sean Brady will beat him. The Palestinian believes that when Brady takes him down a few times, he will be able to submit him, as he considers the former champion to be mentally weak. Furthermore, Belal suggests that the Briton will relive the trauma of his last fight.

“This guy is full of excuses, that’s why Brady will beat him… I predict that when Brady takes him down two or three times, he will find a submission… because Leon is weak mentally and he will have flashbacks of what I did to him,” Belal wrote.

Despite the rivalry with Belal, Leon Edwards has other more recent commitments. The Briton faces Sean Brady at UFC London, scheduled for next Saturday (22). Muhammad will defend his title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315.
